Emma Lee McLean Campbell, 85, remembered as a dedicated mother

WILMINGTON — Emma Lee McLean Campbell, 85, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017.

She was born May 22, 1932, in Scotland County, N.C., a daughter of David A. McLean and Lola Wright McLean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Suzanne Campbell; and siblings, Lillian MacMillan, David McLean and Robert McLean.

She is survived by her children, Richard Alan Campbell, Daniel Alec Campbell, Rebecca Guitierrez and Michael Roy Campbell; grandsons, Richard Tanner Gibson and Trevor Joel Gibson; and sister, Irene Lynn.

Ms. Campbell was a 1949 graduate of New Hanover High School. While still in high school, she began her career at Carolina Power and Light, and transitioned to Progress Energy, where she continued to work until her retirement in 1993. She is remembered as a dedicated mother, who loved her family.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
