Judi Poindexter Dosher, 63, owned and operated The Glass Menagerie

Judi Poindexter Dosher was born July 30, 1953, near Aberdeen, North Carolina. She passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2017, near her home in Fairmont, N.C.

Preceding her in death were her father and mother, Robert and Kathleen Poindexter of Bolivia, N.C.; brother, Robert Carl Poindexter of Supply, N.C.; and sisters, Sylvia McNeil of Charleston, S.C., and Reba Valentine of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Surviving are her husband, Clive Dosher, and son, Monty Dosher, of the home; daughter, Laura Conseco, of North Charleston, S.C., and son, Jose Ernesto Trevino, of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren. Additionally, there are several surviving siblings, Johnny Poindexter of Bolivia, N.C., Edna Willis, Linda Stidham and Pamela Cumbee of Southport, N.C., and Donna Sue Holland of Fayetteville, N.C. Other family members who were not related by blood but by a common bond of love, kindness, humanity, and selfless devotion to Mrs. Dosher and her family were Patricia and Johnny Edge; her pastor, the Rev. Tim Tyner; and neighbors, Gradd and Robin Floyd, whose innumerable kindnesses will resonate in eternity.

Mrs. Dosher was a multi-dimensional, very talented individual. She was an entrepreneur who owned and managed an antique and collectibles business, The Glass Menagerie, for decades in Southport and Whiteville, N.C., an accomplished pianist and decorator, an antique and estate appraiser, a fierce competitor in Scrabble, and a scholar of world trivia. She never met a stranger and brought wit, joy and laughter to all who were privileged to know her.

Her valiant battle with illness was fought with dignity, grace and perseverance and serves as validation to everyone of her undaunting, unwavering spirit. Her faith in Christ and the love and support of her family and friends sustained her even during the most difficult of times.

Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Tim Tyner at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 27, at Bethel Church Cemetery on Bethel Road in Southport, N.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Baltimore Baptist Church, Building Fund, 128 Baltimore Church Road, Fairmont, NC 28340.
