WILMINGTON — Beatrice Mildred ‘Bea’ Van Valkenburg Brandi, 93, was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Woodhaven, Queens County, N.Y., and died in Wilmington Friday, May 12, 2017.
Her parents were Paul Iretus and Mildred Smith Van Valkenburg. Bea was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Gracia Van Valkenburg Amott.
Bea married Joseph Onorato Brandi Dec. 5, 1943, in Greenport, N.Y., and they enjoyed more than 73 loving years together. They raised two sons while living and working in Greenport. They retired to Umatilla, Fla., in 1982. In 2006, they relocated to Wilmington.
Bea is survived by her husband and sons, Lee Joseph Brandi, and his wife, Judith, of Hebron, Conn., and Raymond Paul Brandi, and his wife, Katherine, of Wilmington; grandson, Matthew Lee Brandi, and his wife, Andrea, and great-grandson, James Andrew Brandi, all of Glastonbury, Conn.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert Lapp conducting services. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. at the church chapel.
