Jean Brown Hall, 79, of 344 Palmer Way, Wilmington, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Jean was the first born to Avery and Dora Brown. She leaves behind a daughter, Darlene Nichols of Raleigh; one brother, Harold (Whitey) Brown of Thomasville; and three sisters, LaVerne Yarborough and Ometa Kenan of Asheboro and Shirley Owen of Sunset Beach.
Jean was retired from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., as an administrative assistant to the president of the university. She previously worked at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and at the beginning stages of the NC Zoo in Asheboro. Jean has lived in the Wilmington area for the last 15 years and was employed with Maus Warwick Matthews and Company.
Jean was a faithful member of Windermere Presbyterian Church and a member of the choir. Her dedication to her church and choir was outstanding and earned her a recommendation by the church to be ‘a faithful saint’ in 2015. She also helped with Meals on Wheels and prepared Family Night dinners at her church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Special Music Fund at Windermere Presbyterian, 104 Windemere St., Wilmington, NC 28405; or to a charity of your choice.
