Joan Wass Porter, 82, of Supply passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1933 the daughter of the late Clement Aloysius Wass and Eleanor Virginia Symons Wass.
Joan retired as a registered nurse. She worked at the Columbia Hospital in Pittsburgh. She loved to sew and read her Bible two hours each day. She was devoted to her husband, family and, most importantly, the Lord. She fought valiantly through her health issues and never complained. She was a member of Gospel Center Baptist Church in Varnamtown.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years Jack Richard Porter; two sons, James Richard Porter and wife, Lisa and Jack William Porter and wife, Marcia; a daughter, Jeannine Porter Szulkowski and husband, David; four grandchildren, Jeremy Porter, Jacob Szulkowski, Justin Porter and Jessica Szulkowski.
A celebration of her life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at the Gospel Center Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
