Lavern Henry Schwanke, of Ocean Isle Beach, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 74.
Mr. Schwanke was born in Dodge County, Nebraska, on May 30, 1941, a son of the late Henry William and Gladys Dickerson Schwanke. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and he retired as a software engineer with ESA, Inc.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Burton Schwanke; daughter, Sabrina Condon and husband, James, of Brewster, New York; son, Randall Schwanke and wife, Mary, of Thornton, Colorado; and grandchildren, Sean, Shane and Siobhan Condon.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at Seaside UMC, where he was a member, conducted by the Rev. Scott and Mary Jane Wilson-Parsons. Inurnment will be private.
