Robert “Bob” John Sziemkiewicz, 79, of Wilmington, died Aug. 18, 2015, with his family by his side. He was 79.
Bob was son of the late John and Eva Szymkiewicz, born in Westfield, Massachusetts. Bob worked as a design engineer with General Electric for 44 years. After retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling worldwide with his wife.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elaine and six children: Becky Gover, Steve Sziemkiewicz, Linda Long, Eddie Feltman, Robert Sziemkiewicz II and Laura Lopez. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Shane, Hunter, Scott and Justin; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Lexus; brother, John; and sister-in-law, Judy Smith and husband Jesse.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington 28401.
