Cherry Swann Olness of Wilmington, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Lower Caper Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter. She was 68.
She was born in Wilmington on Nov. 25, 1945, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Swann. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Olness and her sister, Louise Swann Webb.
Cherry is survived and loved by many friends and family.
She was a prominent fixture with the Wilmington Bowling Association for many years. She served on the Board of Directors for many years and helped countless youth bowlers. Her wit and laughter will be sorely missed.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Scotts Hill.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or the NHRMC Foundation for Zimmer Cancer Center.
