Bryan Patrick “Pat” Marshburn, 58, best remembered for his quick sense of humor, kindness and infectious smile

Bryan Patrick “Pat” Marshburn, of Wilmington and formerly of Brunswick County, died April 15, 2014, at the age of 58.

After graduating from John T. Hoggard High School in 1974, he attended Appalachian State University and Wayne Community College where he received a degree in forestry and wildlife management. He was the manager of Orton Plantation for 23 years.

Those who knew Pat best will remember his love for making people laugh with his quick sense of humor, his kindness, his infectious smile and his pride and joy for his “mini me,” daughter, Rachel.

He was born in Wilmington on March 25, 1956, and was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Elisha Thomas and Lula Patrick Marshburn.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel McKee Marshburn, who was the light of his life; sisters, Lee Marshburn Dineen (Chris) and Melanie Marshburn Douglass (Bill); niece, Erin Lee Dineen, nephew, William Campbell Douglass, Jr.; great-nephew, Ian Thomas Neal; former wife, Brenda Bryant; and step-mother, Harriette Wagner Marshburn.

Gravesides services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Oakdale Cemetery.
