Madeline McDowell Marshburn, of Leland, died peacefully Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the age of 82.
She was a longtime member of Woodburn Baptist Church. She loved to garden, cook for her family and spend time with her canine friend, “Gracie.” She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered.
Mrs. Marshburn was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Florence McDowell; her loving husband, Gordon Marshburn; and sister, Gladys Lewis.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne B. Marshburn and wife, Gina and Ray Marshburn and wife, Connie; sisters, Theo Bass, Bessie Lee Vereen, Louise Caison, Marie Justice and Vernie Ganey; grandchildren, Craig, Brian, Jason, Kelley and Danielle Marshburn,; and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Drive. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the funeral home with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
