NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The New Hanover County Board of Elections will host an event for the North Carolina Network for Fair, Safe and Secure Elections’ Trusted Elections Tour on Sept. 8.
The tour is part of a grassroots, bipartisan effort to educate the public on the electoral process to improve confidence in voting and to encourage everyone to the ballot box. The New Hanover County stop will take place at the Board of Elections building at 7 p.m., is free to attend and will last an hour.
The event will be a town hall which will allow voters to also ask local election officials and board members questions about election security and the safeguards in place to protect the voting process. The town hall will cover electronic voting equipment, artificial intelligence, the ballot collection and counting process, and the checks and balances used throughout the election process.
Panelists for the event include Elections Director Eric Navagh, Board of Elections Chair Jamie Getty and elections board member Derrick Miller.
