
WILMINGTON — A suspect has been arrested for an armed robbery that took place Sunday, Jan. 18, at a Scotchman convenience store located at 2902 Carolina Beach Road.
Following an investigation by the Wilmington Police Department, officers located and arrested 36-year-old Ronald Barry Hill Jr. of Zebulon on Jan. 20. The suspect entered Scotchman brandishing a metal object, assaulted an employee, and fled carrying cash and other merchandise. The employee sustained minor injuries.

Hill attempted to flee on foot, but officers were able to take him into custody without any further incident. He is now being held without bond at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and is facing the following charges: malicious conduct by prisoner, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist/delay/obstruct public officers, and larceny.
The investigation is still ongoing.
