WPD investigating Greendale Drive shooting

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in the 200 block of Greendale Drive.

At approximately 7:38 p.m., WPD units responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the area and located a 17-year-old male victim inside a residence.

According to the WPD, officers determined the shooting occurred in the backyard of the residence following an altercation involving multiple juveniles. WPD says a K9 unit tracked and confirmed a possible direction of travel on foot, which assisted investigators in locating evidence of potential suspects.

The victim was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition. The victim declined to cooperate with detectives.

The investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
