WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Community College will be launching a new partnership during its spring semester, focused on screenwriting.
CFCC is partnering with Honey Head Films to invite aspiring filmmakers and writers to attend an eight-week course taught by the production company’s co-founder, writer and director Erika Arlee.

“We are thrilled to be offering this course in collaboration with CFCC,” Arlee said in a release. “Honey Head has a long-standing commitment to bolstering the next generation of cinematic storytellers. Creating access to education, which allows writers to explore their unique voices, is the first step.”
The course will focus on developing professional filmmaking skills and storytelling techniques to create short and feature-length narrative scripts. To introduce students to the pre-production process, there will be guided writing exercises, peer-led review sessions, and table reads with professional actors.
“Wilmington has a rich and longstanding history in film and television, and this course allows students to cultivate that passion right here in our community,” CFCC President Jim Morton said in a press release. “By partnering with a local production company, we’re allowing aspiring writers to learn from industry professionals and grow their creative skills in an authentic, hands-on setting.”
The first cohort will run from March 16 to May 4, 2026, with classes held every Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Honey Head Films’ production office. The cost of the course is $175.
