WPD investigating shooting that struck a vehicle and its passenger

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a shooting after a woman showed up with a gunshot wound to the City of Wilmington Haynes/Lacewell Police and Fire Training Facility. 

A vehicle was struck by gunfire, injuring a woman in the passenger seat before the driver drove them to the facility around 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday. Emergency first responders provided first aid until an ambulance was able to transport the victim to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center. 

By Tuesday evening, WPD made an arrest: 26-year-old Keshun Hykim Pridgen. Pridgen was charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling and from a moving vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

He is being held at the county detention center without bond.
