Pender County students to march in Macy’s parade

PENDER COUNTY — A group of students from Topsail High School have been chosen to take part in an annual holiday tradition in New York City this Thanksgiving.

Marching band will be part of the lineup of the 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Samuel Casamalhuapa, Natalie Corbett, Bryce Hughes, and Mai Nguyen were selected to participate in the parade, joining other young student performers nationwide to showcase skills.

“We are extremely proud of Samuel, Natalie, Bryce, and Mai for representing Topsail High School and Pender County Schools in this incredible national event,” Band Director Jake Wentzek said in a release. “Their hard work and dedication have earned them this amazing opportunity, and we can’t wait to see them shine in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.”

The parade is broadcast live on NBC drawing millions of worldwide viewers.
