WILMINGTON — As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the City of Wilmington is passing on savings for motorists who want to park in downtown this weekend.

From Thursday through Sunday, parking is free on-street for folks to take advantage of Black Friday or Small Business Saturday deals in locally owned downtown shops.

It also means all visitors to the foot of Market Street for the holiday tree lighting on Friday will be able to park for free. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will have Santa, live entertainment and vendors.
