NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A Wilmington man is currently in New Hanover County Detention facility after the Wilmington Police Department arrested him for discharging a firearm in a reckless manner.

At around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, WPD officers responded to a 911 call about gunshots around Brittain Drive. Officers met with several people around the location and discovered a 24-year old Wilmington resident — Robert Dick — had fired several rounds outside of his residence.

Officers determined Dick had made threats inside his home during a family dispute. He then stepped outside and fired a gun; no one was injured during the incident.

According to a WPD press release, Dick was also arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and numerous drug offenses. He is being held at the NHC detention facility on a $100,000 secured bond.
