The Town of Belville is requesting applications to fill a vacancy on the Board of Commissioners after longtime Commissioner David Long stepped down to pursue a position as administrator of health at ECU Health in Kenansville.
Long was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2005 and served through October 2023. He was the town’s mayor from 2006 to 2007 and mayor pro tem from 2018 to 2019.
Port City Daily reached out to the Belville Town Clerk to ask for Long’s date of departure but did not receive a response by press.
The appointee for the vacant position would serve until the end of Long’s four-year term in December 2025. Applications are available at Belville Town Hall at 63, River Road, Belville NC and online at the town’s website. The submission deadline is Thursday, December 15 at 4:30 p.m.
In August, Belville’s Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution commemorating Long for his years of service to the town.
“We are honored to recognize, reward and celebrate the exemplary conduct, valuable contributions, selfless service and unyielding commitment of Commissioner David Long over the last 19 years,” the resolution said.
