The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has recalled over a hundred-thousand pounds of frozen beef products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
P.F. Chang’s Beef and Broccoli, produced on May 26 and 27, actually contained orange chicken, Conagra Brands Inc. announced. The 119,581 pounds of product that has been recalled contains egg, a known allergen, yet is not marked on the label.
The 22-ounce packages have the lot code “5006 2146 2012” with a “BEST BY MAY 21 2023” distinguished on the label. The products also bear an establishment number “P115” above the nutrition facts.
Conagra shipped the bags to retail locations nationwide but it does not affect products actually sold at P.F. Chang’s restaurants. According to a release from FSIS, the company realized the labeling mistake after receiving two consumer complaints and contacted the federal agency.
No adverse reactions were reported; FSIS recommends any injury or illness from consuming the mislabeled food be addressed with a healthcare provider. It also urges consumers not to eat the products and instead toss or return them to the place of purchase.
Consumers can contact Conagra at (800) 280-0301 or Consumer.Care@conagra.com with questions.
Food safety questions can be addressed by calling the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or email to MPHotline@usda.gov.
