Carolina Beach joins neighboring towns in raising employee pay

CAROLINA BEACH — Council unanimously voted Tuesday to approve a salary adjustment for all town employees.

Similar to other local governments recently approving raises, Carolina Beach council said it needed to offer higher pay to retain a quality workforce.

“By bringing pay rates in line with the current market, the town is positioning itself to remain competitive within our neighboring communities,” the press release states.

Citing the current economic climate and to combat record inflation, the board agreed to bring pay scales up to market average effective June 1.

The wage increase varies for different salary categories. For employees in pay grades 12 to 17, they will receive a 10% increase. Those with a pay scale grade of 18 to 27 will earn 9% more and staff in pay grades 27 and above will receive an extra 8%.
