NCDOT to connect women and minority business owners with contractors

The N.C. Department of Transportation is inviting women and minority business owners to a networking event on Wednesday, Mar. 23, in Atlantic Beach. Women and minority entrepreneurs who run small businesses will be able to learn the steps to take to compete with large contractors.

The event takes place from 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (2717 West Fort Macon Rd., Atlantic Beach). Disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) will have the chance to talk with several prime contractors, learn how to contract through NCDOT, and discuss workforce gaps.

Presentations will be given by NCDOT staff and prime contractors on how small business owners can close these workforce gaps as well as learn about the 12-month let list and the work available to transportation subcontractors.

Several contracting opportunities are available through the NCDOT, such as construction and maintenance of roads, mowing, traffic control, and more.

Event registration can be found on the NCDOT web page.

More information about the event can be accessed by contacting Vivian Sessoms at vsemmons@ncdot.gov or by calling 919-707-2412.
