WILMINGTON — Linda Casteen Kendrick, 79 of Wilmington passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022. Always quiet and reflective her true passion in life was her animals. She tried to take in and care for as many as she could, particularly those who were abandoned or abused. She considered her many pets over the years (mostly cats along with an occasional dog or two) her dearest of family and could still recall each and every one of them by name, speaking of them frequently. While living in the historic district of Wilmington for several years, many of her neighbors got to meet one of her favorite cats named Tucker “Figgy” as she proudly strolled the silver tabby cat at dusk along his favorite routes on a leash.
She is survived by her brother Donald (Sandra) of Wilmington, NC, her two sons Bobby (Angie), of Currie, NC, Michael (Gregory) of Mentor, Ohio. Grandson Brandon of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by many friends, cousins, nieces (most notably Margie), nephews and other family. She was proceeded in death by her mother Margaret Casteen, her father Zachary Casteen, sisters Francis Hayes, Dorothy McPhatter, Betsy Glover.
She is to be cremated with no official services at this time. Noting again her passion, love and dedication to the care of animals, the family feels very strongly that in lieu of flowers or other memorials to please make a donation to the local humane society, the ASPCA or an animal rescue organization of your choice.
