Man charged for allegedly firing gun outside a Waffle House

​WILMINGTON — Early Sunday morning, Wilmington Police Department responded to shots being fired outside a Waffle House in midtown.

When officers arrived at 6936 Market St., they detained six subjects at gunpoint and recovered a Glock 19 under a vehicle. Upon searching a suspect, Elijah Tariq Shepard, police found shell casings located on him. Officers determined Shepard was shooting into the air and tossed the gun under another car as law enforcement arrived.

They charged 19-year-old Shepard with discharging a firearm in city limits and going armed to the terror of the public. He was given an $800 bond.  

No one was injured in the incident.
