Ogden intersection closed for pipe replacement

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Motorists driving at an intersection near Middlesound Loop Road will be detoured for two weeks as crews work to replace a drainage pipe that runs underneath the road.

The intersection at Stoneybrook Road and Bedrock Court will be closed starting Feb. 7. Crews from New Hanover County Stormwater Services will be replacing a drainage pipe and will be detour local residents to Middlesound Loop Road and Anchors Bend Way until the project is complete.

The replacement of pipes in the area began last fall, “which has created sinkholes and prevented proper drainage,” according to Timothy Lowe, the chief project engineer for Stormwater Services.

“While it’s an unfortunate inconvenience for a few days to residents who might utilize this intersection, it’s an important improvement that must be made to prevent further issues from occurring,” Lowe said in a press release.

A map of the closure and detour is here for reference. More information can be found here.
