YWCA opens Women of Achievement nominations

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear has opened nominations for its annual Women of Achievement Awards.

For 35 years, the organization has recognized the accomplishments of women and young leaders across the lower Cape Fear. YWCA has honored more than 400 females for their contributions in advocacy and social justice, arts and culture, business, education, health and wellness, and public service, and have given the Rachel Freeman Unsung Hero and Trailblazer awards.

Two awards are bestowed upon young leaders: Young Leadership Scholarship Award and Student Impact Grant. Each offers financial support for higher education or toward research related to YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Nominees are open for women and young ladies who reside in Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties through Jan. 7, 2022. The 36th annual awards ceremony will be during Women’s History Month, Mar. 3, 2022.
