A bank robbery occurred this morning at the Market St. First Citizens Bank, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Not long after the bank — situated between 3rd and 4th streets across from St. James Episcopal Parish — opened for business Wednesday morning, a man came in and passed a note to a teller demanding money, police said.
“The teller handed over cash, and the man left,” according to a WPD press release. “No weapon was shown.”
The 911 call was made around 9:26 a.m. and police are still searching for the suspect, who “generally is described as a young black male, in his early to mid-20’s, about 5’6” to 5’ 8”, slender build,” according to police.
