
WILMINGTON — A fatal collision between a motorcycle and an SUV took place on Oleander Drive Wednesday and has left two people deceased. On Thursday, Feb. 19, the Wilmington Police Department identified the victims.
The motorcyclist is 22-year-old Wilmington resident Tacoma Reda, who died at the scene of the collision, which took place near 58th Street. A passenger of the SUV succumbed to their injuries at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center and has been identified as 62-year-old Ofelia Landa of Wilmington.

The incident took place around 1:45 p.m., leaving some lanes closed as EMS crews assessed the scene. Preliminary investigations have determined Reda was speeding, upward of 90 to 100 miles per hour, according to witnesses.
The investigation is still ongoing as to the cause of the collision.
