CFCC marine tech students work through winter weather (slideshow)

While students on the mainland had a break from classes Tuesday due to winter weather, Cape Fear Community College’s marine technology students were still at work offshore.

Students, faculty and crew aboard the R/V Cape Hatteras were at work on a training voyage as part of Cape Fear’s Marine Technology Program, college spokesman David Hardin said.

Students and crew members sent back several photos from the icy deck of the R/V Cape Hatteras. The photographs were taken offshore near Brunswick County, Hardin said. The crew is expected to reach Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday and return to Wilmington by Friday.
