PENDER COUNTY — Two Pender County School District classrooms are set to reopen after failing their first round of air-quality testing but passing a second round of testing.
After mold remediation efforts, it was revealed two C.F. Pope and one South Topsail Elementary classroom failed initial air quality tests and needed further remediation. The three rooms were retested Aug. 27 and results were received by Pender County Schools Friday, Aug. 28.

Results for two classrooms at C.F. Pope can reopen for normal use, though the district is still awaiting results for South Topsail.
Tests came after mold concerns at C.F. Pope and South Topsail elementary schools, which led to 19 Pender County classrooms being tested for air quality on Aug. 18.
Remediation efforts involved antimicrobial products used to clean affected areas and surfaces, running dehumidifiers and utilizing HEPA airscrubbers.
