
WILMINGTON — A 28-year-old Wilmington man was arrested during a traffic stop on Thursday and is facing felony drug trafficking charges after police seized a large quantity of fentanyl and other narcotics.

According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Wilmington resident Deshon Rucker in the 4300 block of Market Street around 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 19.
During the stop, officers discovered and seized 27 bindles of fentanyl, 9 oxycodone tablets, and multiple pressed fentanyl tablets. Police also found a digital scale, plastic baggies, and marijuana.
Rucker has been charged with:
- Trafficking opium or heroin
- Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a schedule VI controlled substance
- Possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana paraphernalia
- Resisting a public officer
- Driving without a valid license
He was booked into the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a secured bond of $525,000. Rucker has his first appearance in court on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. in courtroom 100 at the New Hanover County Courthouse. His next appearance will be on Oct. 9 in courtroom 302.
