The county is holding a series of five town hall meetings in late September and October to gather public feedback and respond to questions on three topics: the EMS and Fire merger, the county’s strategic land use plan, and the noise ordinance.
The meetings are a direct response to community scrutiny from a commissioner’s meeting on Aug. 4, with many members of the public in attendance urging the commission to hold public meetings. The series of meetings will give residents a direct forum to engage with commissioners and help shape outcomes for the merger, the future land use plan, and the noise ordinance.
While the specific times for these meetings still need to be confirmed by the county, the dates and locations are as follows:
- Tuesday, Sept. 30: Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, Burgaw
- Wednesday, Oct. 1: Heide Trask Media Center, Rocky Point
- Thursday, Oct. 2: Penderlea Auditorium, Penderlea
- Monday, Oct. 13: Surf City Town Hall
- Tuesday, Oct. 14: Hampstead Annex
This post will be updated with specific times for each town hall as they are made available.
