Monday, Aug. 4
The Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda review at 8:30 a.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here.
The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. to discuss board member David Perry’s alleged breach of confidentiality (read more here). Meetings are livestreamed here.
Pender County Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m., 805 South Walker Street. The agenda includes an approval of contract with Union Rescue Squad for EMS services (read previous PCD reporting here) and a purchase order for a sludge removal project at the water treatment plant. The meeting will livestream here.
Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will meet at 3 p.m., 30 Government Center Drive. The agenda includes an administrative report for a construction agreement with King Construction Services for the Longwood Road Sewer Project, valued at over $23 million. It also includes supplier agreements for water treatment chemicals totaling $1.6 million. The meeting will be uploaded here.
Southport Board of Alderman will meet at 9 a.m. at 223 E. Bay St. The agenda includes a new event ordinance outlining the permit process and requirements amd Southport’s welcome signage. Meetings are streamed here and the agenda can be found here.
N.C. State Board of Elections will meet at 9:30 a.m. and can be streamed here. The agenda includes a challenge hearing for the Mayor of Sharpsburg.
Tuesday, Aug. 5
The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Consideration of the Workforce Housing Advisory Committee (read PCD coverage here) and Community Relations Advisory Committee
- Ordinance Adding “Sec. 6-10. Certain Actions Prohibited on City Property” to Chapter 6, Article I of the Wilmington City Code
- Ordinance Amending the Land Development Code, Chapter 18, to Reduce the Number of Uses Permitted by Special Use Permit
- Resolution in Support of Additional Early Voting Locations

Pender County Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Hampstead Annex Auditorium. The agenda includes an ordinance amendment for a shift in decision-making power regarding vested rights and the interpretation of zoning district boundary lines. The meeting will livestream here.
Surf City Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m., Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 West Florence Way. The agenda includes approval for an infiltration project on Seahorse Avenue and plat approval for phase two of Applewood Trace. The meeting will livestream here.
The Wilmington Housing Authority will meet at 4 p.m. at Ranking Terrace, 415 N. 12th St. It will be followed by meetings of the Housing and Economic Opportunities, Inc. (HEO) Board of Directors and Glover Plaza, Inc. Board of Directors.
Wednesday, Aug. 6
The Wilmington Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- 5320 & 5322 Wrightsville Ave.: Conditional district rezoning of property containing 0.77 acres +/- from R-15, Residential to R-5, Residential (CD), Conditional District for a residential development
- 2929 Market St.: Conditional district rezoning of property containing 4.08 acres +/- from O&I, Office and Institutional to MD-17(CD), high-density multiple dwelling (Conditional District) for 120 residential units
North Topsail Beach Board of Alderman will meet at 11 a.m., 2008 Loggerhead Court. The agenda includes multiple department head reports and an interlocal agreement with Onslow County for building inspections. The meeting will livestream here.
Southport Historic Preservation Committee will meet at 4 p.m. at Indian Trail Meeting Hall, 113 W. Moore St. The agenda includes going over comments and feedback from the recent alderman meeting regarding the Historic Distrcit Overaly (read PCD reporting here).
CFPUA Finance Committee meets at 9 a.m. at 235 Government Center Dr. in the Jordan Room, with the agenda including a $1 million design-build services agreement with T.A. Loving Company for the Bayshore Watermain Interconnections Project and a $519K contract amendment for professional engineering services with Ardurra, Inc. for the Lead Gooseneck and Galvanized Water Service Lateral Replacement Project. New Hanover County Board of Elections will meet at 5:30 PM in the Board Room at the Board of Elections Office, 226 Government Center Drive, to discuss possible amendments to the Early Voting plan for the 2025 Municipal Elections. The New Hanover County Board of Education Capital, Finance and Bond Committee will meet at 12 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted by press; read PCD’s previous reporting on bond capacity for schools here.
Thursday, Aug. 7
Pender County Technical Review Committee will meet at 9 a.m., 805 South Walker Street. The agenda includes approval of a preliminary plat for the development of 79 single family homes on approximately 30 acres off of Country Club Drive south of Transfer Station Road between the Southwater Village and Carolina Creek subdivisions.
The New Hanover County Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Public Hearing on a rezoning request for 5.18 acres zoned R-15, Residential located at 7715 Market St. & 7718, 7740 Alexander Rd. to (CZD) B-2, Regional Business and (CZD) R-5, Residential Moderate High Density for a convenience store with fuel stations, fast food restaurant with drive-thru, with row-style dwelling units
