
NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Following a two-month investigation, the county sheriff’s office arrested a man on multiple drugs and weapons charges.
Phillip Bernard Devone is being held on a $1.5-million bond, after the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Vice and Narcotics Division concluded its investigation into him. It was opened following complaints of drug activity taking place at 217 N. 31st St.

Officers arrested Devone on Thursday, April 24 upon serving a warrant at the address. Th search turned up approximately 55 grams of fentanyl, crack cocaine, powder cocaine and methamphetamine, approximately 32 wax bags containing heroin/fentanyl, one stolen Glock .43 handgun, and one AK-47 Style Rifle.
Detectives seized the items and charged Devone with”
- Two (2) counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin
- Four (4) counts of PWISD Schedule II (cocaine)
- Four (4) counts of Manufacturing
- Possession of a stolen handgun
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
He is currently at the New Hanover County Detention Facility and has prior convictions for trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.
