Wilmington police investigate fatal shooting

WILMINGTON — On Saturday evening, the police were called to an altercation where shots were fired and a victim passed away at the scene.

The victim was 27-year-old-Robert Sessums and police are asking anyone with information about the incident contact Wilmington Police Department.

On April 26, around 5 p.m., police units responded to the 500 block of Minnow Way and detained ​a male suspect they say allegedly fired a gun multiple times at Sessums. According to law enforcement, the two individuals engaged in an argument ahead of the gunfire.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement personnel performed life-saving measures on Sessoms until EMS arrived. However, the young adult died from his injuries shortly after.
