BURGAW — The N.C. Department of Transportation has plans to install a new traffic light in Burgaw starting on Jan. 21. The installation is projected to last several weeks.

The addition of a traffic light is anticipated to improve safety at the intersection, located at U.S. 421 and Malpass Corner Road. Currently, motorists on Malpass Corner Road are required to stop at a stop sign, while others traveling on U.S. 421 do not have traffic stop.

According to NCDOT, the traffic lights are anticipated to be in use by mid-February.
