WILMINGTON — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will return to the Port City this weekend.
The rally will take place at the Aero Center Wilmington (1830 Flightline Road), with gates opening at 10 a.m. and events beginning at 2 p.m. The New Hanover County GOP announced the former president’s return on its website, where tickets can be procured for free — two per mobile number.
The lineup of who will speak Saturday has not been announced.
Trump planned his rally in Wilmington in April — the first week his hush money trial began, for which he was found guilty — but had to cancel it mid-event due to inclement weather. This time around he returns as the FBI determined there was a second assassination attempt on Trump’s life Sunday.
The 45th president was on the golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 15 when secret service spotted a person roughly 400 yards away hiding in shrubbery with a gun.
Gunfire was heard in the vicinity of Trump.
He wrote on his campaign page Sunday: “I am safe and well, and no one was hurt. Thank God! But, there are people in this world who will do whatever it takes to stop us. I will not stop fighting for you.”
Law enforcement said it discovered an AK-47-style rifle, scope and GoPro left behind and arrested Ryan Wesley Routh, who lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, the majority of his life before moving to Hawaii six years ago. The FBI continues investigating the incident.
This comes two months after Trump was struck by a bullet to his ear during a Pennsylvania rally in July. The secret service shot and killed the 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks.
