WILMINGTON — A law enforcement officer helped save an animal from danger Sunday.

Wilmington Fire Department was called to a house fire on Thrasher Court on Sept. 8. A man inside faced a medical health crisis and refused to exit as firefighters extinguished the flames.

“A WPD officer went into the home and was able to convince the individual to come outside,” according to a press release from WPD. “The officer then noticed that a dog was also trapped inside the residence and carried it out to safety.”
