2 charged for crashing into multiple vehicles, fleeing scene

WILMINGTON — Saturday night, officers charged two people for crashed into multiple vehicles after fleeing law enforcement during separate incidents.

The female driver was 20-year-old Adali Lopez-Nava, with 20-year-old Ely Juarez-Delgado as an occupant. They face charges including: misdemeanor and felony hit and run, felony flee to elude arrest, DWI, and drive after consuming under 21.

The first crash took place at 23 Market Street, when the vehicle rain into a stationary moped. Lopez-Nava and Juarez-Delgado fled when law enforcement attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Shortly after, the same car was reported driving at a high speed down South Third Street and crashed into multiple other cars, plus two cars parked alongside the road. At least two occupants of one of the struck vehicles were transported to the hospital by EMS.

Both Lopez-Nava and Juarez-Delgado fled the scene via foot after being stopped by officers on mounted horseback units at Second and Princess streets. Officers located various open containers of alcohol during a vehicle search of the suspects’ car.

Eventually, both Lopez-Nava and Juarez-Delgado were arrested and received unsecured bonds.
