Female arrested for stabbing, robbery near Market Street hotel

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — A 25-year-old has been arrested after an altercation broke out at Suites on Market Tuesday.

Wilmington Police Department officers responded to 2828 Market St. around 4:30 p.m. for a fight in progress. Witnesses said two people were involved and one had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim and rendered aid to the a serious stab wound until EMS arrived.

According to witnesses and the victim, a female fled the scene after stealing property from the victim. Officers were told the suspect went into a nearby building under construction.

During the initial investigation officers were able to identify the suspect as Ashley Maready from Wilmington. Maready was taken into custody by officers and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and breaking or entering. She is currently in the New Hanover County detention facility under no bond.
