WILMINGTON — Two convicted felons were arrested by the Wilmington Police Department last month.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 800 block of S. 15th St. shortly before midnight Oct. 19. When they arrived, officers located 34-year-old Hykeem Durant suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
While on scene, officers located a firearm, which had been reported stolen. After an investigation, WPD discovered Durant negligently discharged the firearm, which caused his wound. He was booked into the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center Nov. 4.
Durant is charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He’s being held under a $104,000 secured bond.
WPD arrested another individual in connection with the same stolen firearm.
On Oct. 30, members of the Housing Task Force Unit conducted a traffic stop in Creekwood and found Patrick Fields, 30, was in possession of a distribution amount of crack cocaine.
During the investigation, Fields had possession of the firearm Durant discharged negligently.
Fields was charged with possession of a firearm by convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm, which were added to his drug charges. He’s being held at the detention center under no bond.
