Woman arrested for deadly Sunday-morning shooting

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department made an arrest in a fatal shooting that took place on 26th Street Sunday morning.

Annie Lou Bradford, 55 of Wilmington, faces charges on second-degree murder and is being held without bond at New Hanover County Detention Center.

Police were called to the 1200 block of 26th Street around 6:45 a.m. on April 30. They found 51-year-old Rufus Singletary with life-threatening injuries; he passed away at the scene.

WPD noted in a release it was an isolated incident, domestic in nature, and the public is not in danger.

“Our condolences go out to his friends and family,” WPD said in a release. “They are in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time.”
