WILMINGTON — A kick off to the summer season, as well as to an annual nonprofit fundraiser will combine food, drinks and vendors at Waterline Brewing.

Lower Cape Fear LifeCare is partnering with the brewing company for a pre-event fundraiser in conjunction with its well-known annual Last Chance for White Pants Gala. First Chance for White Pants will be held June 4 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 721 Surry St.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $35 and children ages 12 and under are admitted for free with a suggestion donation of $10. Admission includes a free beverage, live music by local Justin Cody Fox, giveaways, and white pants presented by local boutiques J. Huffman of Sunset Beach, Cloth+Design, Gentleman’s Corner, and more.

Wheelz Pizza and the Chrome Gnome food trucks will be on site.

“Where our gala offers people the last chance to wear their white pants, based on an old Southern fashion adage, First Chance for White Pants plays into the same theme,” director Katie Tate said in a press release.

Proceeds from both events go to providing care and support to people living with serious illnesses, and their families. A portion of the funds raised will go to Lower Cape Fear Life Care’s Memory Partners program providing resources, education and services to people living with Alzheimer’s and their families caring for them.

One aspect of the program offers caregivers a “respite voucher” to cover the cost of someone to stay with their loved one and take a break.

“We look forward to seeing a lot of white pants enjoying live music and a cold beverage at Waterline Brewing,” Tate said in the release. “We think it’s a great way to kick off the local summer season and support a great cause.”
