LELAND — A new hotel is being planned adjacent to the Harris Teeter in Waterford.
The owners of the Holiday Inn Express Leland in Magnolia Greens are proposing to bring a Tru by Hilton hotel to the 7.8-acre undeveloped Waterford site.
Planned to include 93 rooms, the hotel will feature an indoor pool, continental breakfast, and other amenities, according to a Crown Hotel & Travel Management press release Thursday.
The property will be managed by Crown Hotel & Travel Management and is being developed by Claredon Properties. The Wilmington-based companies applied to make the new project a Tru by Hilton hotel.
Claredon Properties submitted design documents to the town in March, reviewed by the town’s Technical Review Committee. Final plans have not yet been submitted to the town.
Preliminary plans show the hotel will be nearly 50,000 sq. ft.
“We have always been pleased with the performance of our Holiday Inn Express Leland-Wilmington area and believe it’s time to add another hotel. Leland is a vibrant town with the type of growth we look for when evaluating new sites.” Barry Eagle, President/CEO of Crown Hotel & Travel Management said in a press release.
