Wilmington police investigating overnight shooting, stabbing — two sent to hospital

WILMINGTON — Two separate incidents sent two male victims to the hospital last night.

According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), officers responded to both the scene of a shooting as well as to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) where the victim of a stabbing was reported.

The shooting took place near 14th and Dawson streets, according to WPD.

“At approximately 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, officers responded to the 900 block of S. 14th Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a male gunshot wound victim inside the residence. He was transported to NHRMC. His condition is not known at this time,” WPD stated in a press release.

Earlier in the evening, officers were also dispatched to NHRMC.

“Around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, officers were dispatched to NHRMC in reference to a male victim that had been jumped and stabbed. He advised the incident happened in the 400 block of Rutledge Dr. His injuries appeared to be non-life threatening,” WPD said.
