WILMINGTON — Spring Break is here in the Cape Fear region as schools let out for a week off for students and for some that means heading out of town but for those sticking around town, there are plenty of things to do right here.
Below is a list of a few places across the region to check out for a “staycation.”
Missles and More Museum

Although it has been closed since Hurricane Florence, the Missles and More Museum in Topsail Beach is open once again at 2 p.m. April 15 — just in time for Spring Break.
Learn about Operation Bumblebee the U.S. Navy’s secret guided missile testing program that operated on Topsail Island from 1946-1948 and more.

Cape Fear Museum

With free admission until further notice, the “Cape Fear Museum collects, preserves and interprets objects relating to the history, science, and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear. The Museum makes those objects and their interpretation available to the public through educational exhibitions and programs.”

N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher

Located south of Kure Beach near the Fort Fisher Recreation Area, the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher hosts a variety of animal exhibits including sharks, rays, and more.

Beaches

Living by the coast has its perks! While plenty of people travel across the state or even country to come to the beach for Spring Break, residents to the Cape Fear Region are already here.
Head to Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach, Topsail Island (Surf City, Topsail Beach, and North Topsail), Oak Island, Holden Beach, Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach.
