71-year-old man arrested for murdering wife in Holden Beach

After five days, law enforcement officers found a missing woman's body and charged her husband with first-degree murder in connection with her death.

HOLDEN BEACH — A Holden Beach man is in custody after being charged with first-degree murder of his wife.

Judy Brock was first reported missing Friday. Wednesday, law enforcement officers located Brock’s body in a wooded area in Sampson County, according to a Holden Beach Police Department release.

Brock was 71 at the time of her death. Her husband, Phillip Brock, also 71, is being held at the Brunswick County jail. Brock was admitted at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and will have his first court appearance in Brunswick County Thursday morning.

According to the Holden Beach Police Department, more details in the ongoing investigation will be forthcoming.

Multiple agencies assisted in making the arrest and locating Judy Brock’s body, including the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Ocean Isle Beach Police Department, the North Carolina DMV License and Theft Bureau, Tri-Beach Fire Department, Brunswick Search and Rescue, Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Garland Fire Department and the District Attorney’s office.
