WILMINGTON — First responders in Wilmington might be partners when it comes to serving the community but when it comes to hockey, the Wilmington Fire Department and the Wilmington Police Department don’t always get along. That’s because of the annual matchup that pits members of both agencies against each other on the ice — but don’t worry, it’s all for a good cause.
The annual Guns and Hoses charity hockey game is right around the corner and tickets are on sale now.
“Every year WPD plays against WFD in an annual charity hockey game. Currently, the series is tied 3-3, but I would like to point out that we won last year so we are the reigning champs,” WPD spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron said. “The charity changes each year, this year it is going to Access of Wilmington, the Fire Department’s charity of choice this year.”
Last year the WPD chose the Carousel House of Wilmington and raised $5,700.
The game might not be for another few weeks, but tickets are already on sale.
The game will be held at the Wilmington Ice House, March 16 and tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for kids 10 and under.
