Margot Stanton Sloup, 75, achieved six holes-in-one at St. James Plantation Golf Club

SOUTHPORT — Mrs. Margot Stanton Sloup, 75, born March 20, 1943, in Elyria, Ohio,  passed away and found peace in God’s rainbow garden on the morning of Friday, Jan. 25, 2019.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 ½ years, William Charles Sloup Jr.; oldest son, William Charles Sloup III, and his wife, Julie Ann Sloup; pride and joy, granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Sloup; and youngest son, Randolph Stanton Sloup. She leaves behind her brothers, Paul Robert Stanton and Eugene Joseph Stanton Jr. (Linda); and sister, Kathleen Stanton Reid (Charles). Margot enjoyed life to the fullest giving loving thoughts and a beautiful smile to the world. She was an excellent tennis player and golfer. She truly loved each sport. Her achievements in golf were outstanding, winning the Villa du Parc Women’s Golf Club Championship in Mequon, Wisconsin, and demonstrating her superior golf skills and accomplishments by achieving six holes in one at the St. James Plantation Golf Club, St. James.

Her hobbies included gardening, reading and participating in several book clubs, doing puzzles, taking care of her loving dogs, Teenie and Chipper, and traveling extensively. Margot’s pride and joy in life was her granddaughter Ashley. Ashley meant the world to Margot. Margot’s primary role in her later life was taking care of Ashley, attending Ashley’s golf tournaments, and being the best mom she could to Ashley. Margot was Ashley’s biggest fan.

Margot saw the world as beautiful and brought beauty to everyone with a loving smile and joyous attitude. She will be deeply missed. She is finally at peace.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service, Southport. Burial will be private.
