WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is asking for the public’s help to track down a suspect in a hit-and-run incident that occurred last week.
Wilmington Police (WPD) have obtained warrants for 31-year-old Wilmington resident Christopher John Camy for his involvement in a hit and run the day after Christmas.
According to WPD, “Officers responded to the 4200 block of Carolina Beach Road [just south of Independence Boulevard] around 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 26 in reference to a hit a run. The victim is a Pennsylvania man who was visiting Wilmington over the Christmas holiday. He was traveling south on Carolina Beach Road when Camy, of Wilmington, struck the left rear corner of the vehicle.”
According to WPD, the victim incurred about $1,000 worth of damage to his vehicle; Camy fled the scene, however, the victim was able to get a description and Camy’s license plate number.
After determining that Camy was, in fact, the owner and the driver of the vehicle in question, he was charged with hit and run leaving the scene with property damage, driving while license revoked, and failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
Anyone with information on Camy’s whereabouts should contact WPD at 910.343.3609 or use Text A Tip.
